Suitable for a wide range of fabrics from slightly thin to slightly thick, including broadcloth, corduroy, pique, flannel, gabardine, serge muslin, and soft denim. Recommended needle sizes: 9 to 14. For the upper thread (thread threaded through the needle), only Z-twist (twisted in the direction of the “/” when viewed) or single-ply thread can be used. Standard sewing machine thread is Z-twist (single-ply thread is the so-called transparent sewing thread). For standard sewing machine thread, the automatic thread tension or “standard” setting usually provides adequate tension. Also, when the upper and lower threads differ in type (e.g., thickness), always check the thread tension.
