The Japanese edition of this solo puzzle game, designed by Dr. Reiner Knizia, the master of the German game world, is now available.
The goal of this game is to place yellow pieces on the puzzle sheet to turn all the unhappy faces (red or blue faces) on the sheet into smiling faces.
However, it's not as easy as it looks.
Place your pieces wisely to turn all the unhappy faces into smiles.
Choose one puzzle sheet (25 sheets, double-sided) from the total of 50 available and place it in front of you. Prepare the number of yellow pieces indicated on the puzzle sheet to start the game. Each puzzle sheet features three types of faces printed on it: yellow smiling faces, blue neutral faces, and red sad faces. Place yellow pieces on empty spaces on the puzzle sheet. Blue and red faces can be transformed into the next higher emotion (sad face → neutral face, neutral face → yellow smile) by sandwiching them between yellow smiles or already placed yellow pieces along a straight line (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal).
Using this method, change the faces you sandwich each time you place a yellow piece. The puzzle is complete when you transform all faces on the puzzle sheet into yellow smiling faces.
There are 50 puzzles in total, categorized by difficulty. Each puzzle has only one correct solution. Find the joy of putting your brain to work by turning all faces into smiles. Whenever you doubt, remember this proverb: “A smiling face brings good fortune.”
