Azulejos are beautiful decorative tiles (originally white and blue ceramic tiles) brought by the Moors.
King Manuel I of Portugal was captivated by the stunning beauty of these Moorish decorative tiles when he visited the Alhambra Palace in southern Spain. Deeply moved by the Alhambra's exquisite interiors, the king immediately ordered the walls of his own palace in Portugal to be decorated with similar tiles. In this game, players take all tiles of the same color from one of the workshop display boards in the center of the table and place them on one row of their player board's pattern line. They take turns doing this until the tiles in the center are gone. Next, they place one tile from any row on their pattern line onto a designated space on the wall on their right. They score points based on the result of this placement. If the game-ending conditions are not met, replenish the tiles on the workshop display board and proceed to the next round. The game ends when a player places five tiles in a horizontal row on their wall. Finally, bonus points are added based on the result of the last tile placed on the wall. The player with the highest score is acclaimed as the greatest tile artist.
