Age of Empires: Imperium Classic and Age of Empires: Imperium Legend are fully compatible with each other. While each can be played standalone, combining them allows you to expand the range of civilizations even further. This edition, “Age of Empires: Imperium Classic,” includes eight ancient to medieval civilizations. (“Carthage,” “Celts,” “Greece,” “Macedonia,” “Persia,” “Rome,” Scythians, Vikings).
Players receive their civilization's deck and play the game. On their turn, players either “Activate” an action, perform a “Revolution” by discarding all cards in hand, or execute a ‘Rebellion’ by sending unrest cards from their hand to the unrest pile. Afterwards, they perform “Organize” actions like replenishing their hand. Card effects vary widely: gaining resources, playing cards onto the field, acquiring cards from the common market, receiving unrest cards from the unrest pile instead of an effect, or influencing other players' cards. Players utilize these card abilities to develop and civilize their empire. The game ends when the final end condition is met or when a civilization “collapses.”
If the game ends by fulfilling the end conditions and scoring points, the cards representing the empire's history up to that point become the source of those points.
Conversely, if the game ends in collapse, victory is achieved by holding fewer unrest cards.
Since each civilization's cards are entirely different, their strategies and paths to victory vary significantly.
This is a card game centered on the themes of civilization's rise and fall, focusing on creating situations to activate card abilities, deck building, and resource/hand management.
