HobbyJAPAN Card Game - Forest Shuffle - Japanese Edition
In Forest Shuffle, players strive to create ecologically balanced habitats for animals and plants before the game ends when three Winter cards appear. By planting trees in their “forest” during the game, players cultivate a thriving ecosystem where diverse animals, plants, and fungi flourish. On their turn, a player either “draws two cards from the top of their deck or from the open card area (the clearing)” or “plays one card and places a number of cards equal to its cost face-up in the clearing.” Cards include basic “Trees” forming the forest's foundation, and cards depicting separate creatures (such as “Animals,” “Birds,” “Insects,” “Grass,” or “Mushrooms”) that inhabit (and stack on top of) the spaces above, below, or to the sides of trees. Each forest creature has conditions listed, such as required vegetation, preferred location, prey species, or the need to form a herd. Placing them in the forest considering these conditions builds a rich ecosystem. However, since cards are split, placing one side means abandoning the other, requiring careful play.
Additionally, if 10 or more cards remain in the common area after a card play, all cards there are discarded. However, if cards remain, other players can draw them, so players must also be mindful of which cards they place in the common area.
The rules governing split cards and card cost payments create deep gameplay. Combined with beautiful artwork, this is a set collection environmental management card game.
