Description
Hot Wheels - Car Culture - Modern Classics - Vehicle Toys - HRV75
The fifth-generation Silvia debuted in 1988. Its sibling model, the 180SX, was released in 1989. While sharing basic components, doors, and front windows with the Silvia, the 180SX featured entirely distinct front and rear designs, adopting a hatchback style with a large-opening rear gate. Its most distinctive feature was the front fascia: unlike the Silvia's fixed, horizontally elongated headlights, the 180SX was equipped with retractable headlights that rose like eyes opening when activated.
Hot Wheels chose as its new die-cast subject a modified vehicle featuring the Silvia's fascia transplanted onto the 180SX—a style commonly called “Syl-Eighty,” a play on ‘Sylvia’ and “One-Eighty.”
