Description
Hot Wheels - Wheels - Myers Manx - Vehicle Toy - JBL22
Dune buggy racing, a form of off-road vehicle racing using automobiles, became popular on the West Coast of the United States starting in the 1960s. This activity later evolved into a motorsports category, with the racing vehicles built specifically for desert driving collectively known as dune buggies. The Meyers Manx was one such vehicle, created by taking only the chassis of a VW Type 1 (first-generation Beetle), shortening its front and rear dimensions, and mounting a lightweight fiberglass open body on top. While many manufacturers released similar vehicles, the Meyers Manx, produced by B. F. Meyers & Co. based in California and led by Bruce Meyers, stood out for its high quality.
Although built as a competition vehicle, the Meyers Manx was also popular among young people who enjoyed driving it on public roads.
B. F. Meyers & Co. manufactured approximately 6,000 Meyers Manx vehicles between 1964 and 1971 before ceasing operations. The company was revived under new ownership in 2000 and now also produces electric vehicle (EV) models.
