FineMold - Imperial Japanese Navy - Zero Carrier-Based Fighter - Plastic Model - FZ02 Product Introduction FineMold 1/48 Imperial Japanese Navy Zero Carrier-Based Fighter Model 52 (Nakajima-built) Plastic Model Kit FZ02 While development and production of Japan's iconic aircraft, the ‘Zero Fighter’, was primarily carried out by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Nakajima Aircraft also produced it, ultimately exceeding Mitsubishi's production numbers. While the Nakajima and Mitsubishi Type 52 Zero fighters share the same airframe, they exhibit subtle differences. Visually, these include variations in paint schemes, such as the line separating the dark green upper surface from the underside color, and the width of the white border around the “Rising Sun” emblem on the wings. Furthermore, differences exist in the airframe design itself. A key feature of the Nakajima Type 52 Zero is the longer heat shield plate affixed to the fuselage where the single exhaust pipe would be located, compared to the Mitsubishi version. This kit meticulously reproduces the differences between the Mitsubishi and Nakajima Zero fighters. A key feature is the separate canopy window frame and glass parts, facilitating easy painting of the clear components (a standard one-piece molded canopy is also included). Furthermore, by dividing the fuselage into front and rear sections, mirroring the actual aircraft's structure, the standard left-right fuselage split common in aircraft plastic models is eliminated. This eliminates the need for meticulous finishing work on part joint lines, aiming for an easier-to-build yet precise plastic model.
