Description
World Bus Collection - WB001-TDH4512 - Diorama Accessories - Limited First-Order Production by Manufacturer
Product Introduction
The World Bus Collection features precision bus models recreating epoch-making buses from around the world in 1/160 N scale. Enjoy displaying them alongside N gauge trains or as part of your bus model collection.
The vehicle known as the GMC Old Look Bus is the world's first mass-produced rear-engine bus, manufactured in the United States starting in 1940.
This bus features a lightweight, frameless monocoque body with a horizontally mounted diesel engine under the rear floor. Compared to previous bonnet buses, it minimized dead space and maximized passenger capacity, becoming an efficient vehicle that served as a model for new buses worldwide.
In Japan, production of the first frameless rear-engine bus by Fuji Heavy Industries began in 1949. It is said this vehicle was developed by studying Old Look Buses brought in by the occupying forces at the time, and influences can be seen in its body design.
When it was redesigned in 1959 into the New Look Bus, characterized by its enlarged windows, the previous design became known as the Old Look Bus.
Vehicles preserved in running condition still exist across the United States today.
