The Toyota SORA debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2017 and began lease sales in March 2018.
It became the first fuel cell bus in Japan to obtain Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) type certification (ZBC-MUM1NAE).
The Yokohama City Transportation Bureau assigned it to the Takigashira Depot, where it primarily operates on the Pier Line.
