The Echizen Railway MC7000 series is a vehicle introduced in 2013, created by acquiring and modifying JR 119 series trains.
This model features modified control equipment using VVVF inverters, altered front end design, and removal of toilets.
As of October 2023, six 2-car sets are in service, operating across the entire Echizen Railway network.
In March 2024, the Hokuriku Shinkansen will extend into Fukui Prefecture, home to Echizen Railway, significantly reducing travel time from the Tokyo metropolitan area.

By using the separately sold power unit and N gauge running parts, it can be operated as an N gauge model train.
