Berry Fire “1/350 US Navy Light Cruiser USS Birmingham CL-62 Detail Up Set” Plastic Model Parts. \
Birmingham was a cruiser of the United States Navy, the sixth ship of the Cleveland-class light cruisers. The ship was named after Birmingham, Alabama.\
Laid down in 1941, launched in 1942, and commissioned in 1943, she was assigned to the Atlantic Fleet and supported the Sicily landings (Operation Husky). \
In August of that same year, she was transferred to the Pacific Fleet, fighting across the Pacific theater and participating in the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944.\
She took part in the Battle of Okinawa starting in March 1945 but was damaged. She returned to Pearl Harbor for repairs and was only able to return to active duty on August 1st, just before the war ended. \
The Birmingham was a battle-hardened warship that endured repeated damage yet persevered until the war's end. After the war, it was honored for its combat service with eight battle stars. \
