The third-generation Skyline, the C10 series, underwent a full model change and was born in August 1968. It became an instant hit upon release. Popularized by the catchphrase “Skyline of Love” in its commercials, it was affectionately known as “Ai-Suka” or “Suka-G” at the time. Then, in October 1968, the 2000GT-R was added to the lineup. It made its racing debut at the JAF Grand Prix on May 1, 1969. It won first place in the TS class from its very first race, achieving consecutive victories and establishing the Hakosuka R's unshakable status.\
