Signboard architecture stores were primarily constructed from the late Taisho period to the early Showa period. Even today, these commercial buildings can be seen in urban centers and suburbs, mainly in the Kanto-Koshinetsu region. Learning from the lessons of the 1923 Great Kantō Earthquake, these buildings feature flat facades and diverse designs. They incorporate fire-resistant materials like tiles, copper plates, and mortar, along with arched windows and copper plates embossed with patterns reminiscent of Edo komon. They can be used to recreate various scenes from the early Shōwa period to the present, spanning from major metropolitan areas to regional cities. The front sections come in four types: “Copper Plate,” “Mortar,” “Stone Masonry,” and “Tile,” forming a diverse lineup. Signboard Architecture Shops 1 (Copper Plate) and 2 (Mortar) feature a clothes drying rack depicted at the rear. Corner shops are produced with variations in left/right orientation and front section design, realistically recreating street corners. For shops other than corner stores, the separately sold “Signboard Architecture Shop Front Replacement Kit” allows you to swap facades, creating a richly varied streetscape.
