The AH-64A Apache is the U.S. Army's all-weather attack helicopter. Developed as the successor to the AH-1 Cobra, the Apache features the latest equipment.
The nose houses a targeting system that locks onto and identifies targets. This system also provides the pilot with terrain display capabilities during nighttime and adverse weather conditions.
The Apache's offensive armament includes a 30mm caliber chain gun mounted under the nose and Hellfire missiles for attacking tanks.
The chain gun is linked to the gunner's helmet sight (a device allowing aiming through the helmet), aligning the gunner's line of fire with their head movement.
This system enables highly accurate firing.
