The Sikorsky SH-3H Sea King is an anti-submarine helicopter used by the United States Navy.
It is a large twin-engine turbine helicopter adopted as the successor to the HSS-1 helicopter previously used by the Navy.
Developed as a ship-based aircraft, the SH-3H Sea King features five main rotor blades with an automatic folding mechanism. The tail boom section also incorporates a folding mechanism.
Operating primarily over maritime areas, the SH-3H Sea King's fuselage employs a watertight semi-monocoque hull-type structure. Combined with auxiliary floats on the fuselage sides, this provides excellent seaplane performance.
It is powered by two parallel T-58 turboshaft engines, ensuring high power output and enhanced safety in the unlikely event of engine failure.
