Description
Fujimi Model-3000-Collectible Warship Series-No-99-Plastic Model Kit
Ruins enthusiasts, take note. It's a warship, but not just any warship. ?
That very Hashima Island (Battleship Island) is now available as part of the 1/3000 Collectible Warship Series.
As a palm-sized structure you can easily build and enjoy, it brings the vibrant era of Japan's high-growth period to life in a completely new mold.\ n
“Gunkanjima” is officially named Hashima Island and is located in Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture.
From the discovery of coal in the late 1800s until the late 1960s, when the shift to fossil fuels occurred, it flourished as a coal mine producing high-quality coal. After closing in 1974, it became uninhabited and is now famous as a ruin site with weathering buildings.
Viewed from the mainland opposite, its silhouette evokes a Japanese Imperial Navy battleship (gunkan), earning it the nickname “Gunkanjima” (Battleship Island), a name still widely recognized today.
It may not be an actual battleship, but its naming and scale match this series perfectly, so it joins the lineup. ?
□ Reproducibility: Like other models in the series, its satisfyingly segmented parts and well-adjusted shapes make building a joy.
□ Runners are divided into “Base Section,” “Residential Buildings Section,” and “Cranes and Vessels.”
□ Residential buildings on the island's west side feature separate parts for key structures and color schemes, enhancing accuracy.
□ One blue-molded sea surface plate is included to recreate the surrounding waters.
□ Service stickers and decals are provided alongside plastic parts to accurately depict the orderly windows.
□ The steep slope known as the Hell Stairs, leading from the northwest to the high ground, has been recreated.
The southern pool has also been recreated with delicate sculpting.
□ The remains of the elevator shaft for Building 65 (Hokoku Dormitory) have been shaped.
□ For the coal mining area on the island's east side, equipment and associated ships are provided as separate parts to create a three-dimensional form.
□The base integrates distinctive elements like stacked coal piles, a dust collector, and the coal mine office building into a single representation.
□The elevated area running north-south through the island's center and the densely packed residential buildings crowding the western side are recreated in three dimensions.
□Building 31 features a separate part to represent the waste belt conveyor running through the residential structure.
