Product Description
This model captures Suzuyama of the “7th Squadron, 1st Division,” which played a key role in the early Pacific War's Dutch East Indies campaign. It features the characteristics of the late-model Mogami-class ships and the individual differences from its sister ship Kumano, utilizing additional molds to recreate its appearance in 1942.
▪️This product depicts the Suzutani, the third ship of the Mogami class, around Showa 17 (1942), before combat lessons were incorporated into her design.
▪️The hull sides feature dedicated parts reflecting the early wartime appearance: a hull cross-section shape distinct from the Mogami/Mikuma and unsealed portholes. Hull Structure ・Dedicated parts depict the early wartime appearance with unsealed portholes. ・External electrical wiring is molded as a single piece with the hull, depicting the different equipment placement compared to the Mogami/Mikuma. Bridge/Forward Mast ・The forward mast uses dedicated parts for the 1942 specification, featuring the additional pre-war command post structure but no radar equipment. ・The anti-aircraft command post includes a separate binocular observation telescope part, with the floor surface precisely sculpted to depict the grating. Anti-Aircraft Gun Mounts/Antenna Supports ・The twin 12.7cm anti-aircraft gun mounts feature protrusions on the rear, specific to Suzuyama/Kumano. ・The antenna supports mounted on the 3rd/4th main turret roofs are unique parts reproducing each ship's specific shape. Aft Mast/Aft Bridge/Crane ・The aft mast is a Suzuyo-specific part with a rearward-sloping top and Y-shaped yards, reproducing the difference from Kumano. ・Features crane parts distinct from Kumano, characterized by precisely engraved, lightweight hole shapes.
