Description
700 - Special Series - No. 48 - Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier - Plastic Model Kit Product Introduction
The Kaga, the main carrier of the Nagumo Task Force's First Carrier Division, is back with new parts.
This is an unpainted kit that requires gluing and painting.
This is a 1/700 scale underwater model that does not include the ship's bottom.
This product is constructed using the previous (Special Series) mold and newly designed additional parts.
The aircraft carrier Kaga was built as an aircraft carrier to replace the Akagi and Amagi, which were converted and built as aircraft carriers under the Washington Naval Treaty, after being damaged in the Great Kanto Earthquake.
Originally planned as the first Kaga-class battleship, it underwent the same modifications as the Akagi.
Completed in 1928, it had a unique shape with three flight decks, but was converted into an aircraft carrier with a full-length deck between 1934 and 1935.
After that, she became the mainstay of the Japanese Navy's aircraft carrier force, participating in the attack on Pearl Harbor and the Indian Ocean campaign at the beginning of the Pacific War. During the Midway invasion in June 1942, she was hit by an attack from a US carrier task force.
Her carrier-based aircraft, bombs, and torpedoes caught fire, causing her to burst into flames and sink.
▪️This product is based on her appearance during the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and the Midway invasion in June 1942.
・This ship is modeled after the extensive refit completed in 1935, and flight deck markings (decals) are included to match her appearance from 1941.
・The Japanese flag (Hinomaru) markings for identifying friend or foe on the flight deck are also available, making it suitable for use during the Midway invasion in June 1942. Newly designed parts are available to standardize the differences in the reproduction of equipment, etc., depending on the product release date, and some are divided to allow for painting.
- The 12.7cm Twin Anti-Aircraft Gun Type A1 is divided into four parts, improving the modeling resolution from the existing two-part model.
- The 12.7cm Twin Anti-Aircraft Gun Type A1 Kai 2 with soot shield is divided into four parts, improving the modeling resolution.
- The 9-meter cutter on the boat deck is divided into two parts to allow for painting, and the deck mount is prepared as a separate part, or you can choose to have it molded as a single unit with the deck.
- The 12-meter motorboat has separate parts for painting, including the canvas and wheelhouse/engine room canopy. Each part is painted, and assembly and gluing are performed later.
- The 11-meter motorboat, like the 12-meter motorboat, has separate parts for painting, including the canvas and wheelhouse/engine room canopy.
