Kan NEXT Series-No-17-EX-201-Imperial Japanese Navy Light Cruiser-With Etching Parts
Kan NEXT Series Light Cruiser Kan Groma arrives with etching parts. The lead ship was the Tamamaru light cruiser, the namesake vessel following the Tenryu-class light cruisers. This popular 5,500-ton light cruiser was the first variant of the Tamamaru class and the progenitor of the Nagara and Kawachi classes. From 1941, it underwent multiple modifications and participated in the Pacific War. The model features a spacious design allowing for modifications like adding a water channel. After the Pacific War, Tamamaru served in the Southern Campaign and was sunk by torpedoes from a British submarine west of Penang Island in January 1945. The product features a snap-fit design requiring no glue. Major sections are reproduced with color-separated plastic parts, while some painted areas use Reality Seals with excellent surface-following properties. Assembly is all-in-lay, with parts divided at the waterline to reproduce both the Western-style and full-hull types. The product depicts the appearance of the early-type JASDF aircraft in late 1971. A dedicated part allows reproduction of the rear torpedo tube openings sealed with canvas. The Sphere's characteristic vertical linoleum deck is reproduced with a dedicated part. Etched parts, difficult to reproduce with injection molding, are included to express fine details. The etching parts include funnel caps (mesh), handrails, water coned derricks, fender lights, ladders, and more. This product is manufactured in Japan.
