Description
Ship Model Series-No-3-EX-1-Imperial Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Battleship-Plastic Model
Reproduces the bridge of the Ise/Hyūga, converted to aircraft carrier battleships and equipped with Type 21/22 radar, at 1/350 scale
This product is an unpainted kit requiring glue assembly and painting.
Battleship Haruna was built at Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation in Kobe as the third ship of the Kongo class.
She underwent two refits before the Pacific War and saw extensive service during the war, ranging from direct escort duties for carrier task forces to enemy shore bombardment.
In October 1942, she participated in the bombardment of Guadalcanal airfields alongside Kongo and accompanied the carrier task force during the Battle of the Philippine Sea. By October 1944, she operated alongside Yamato and Musashi in the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
It then returned to Japan, moored off Etajima/Koyou after the Kure air raid.
During the July air raid, it was hit by carrier-based aircraft, grounded, and remained there until the war's end.
This product utilizes the molds from the existing 1/350 scale aircraft battleship Ise/Hyūga kit.
You can build the bridge of either the Ise or the Hyūga.
The product models the ships during Operation Shō-1 in October 1944.
The main bridge parts are molded in gray, simulating the Kure Naval Arsenal color.
Clear molded parts are provided for the bridge windows and searchlights.
A display base and decals for the ship names “Ise” and “Hyūga” are included.
The model recreates the area from the upper deck to the topmost Type 21 radar, including the forward section up to the second turret connected to the shelter deck. The aft section is recreated up to the central searchlight tower. The bridge is assembled by stacking each level, adding supports and ladders.
The shelter deck features finely sculpted wood grain detailing. Separate parts for ventilation ports and machine gun ammunition boxes on the wood deck reduce the need for separate painting. The 25mm machine guns positioned around the bridge, unique to 1/350 scale, use a 4-part construction for twin/triple mounts and allow elevation angle adjustment.
Windows at five locations—Navigation Bridge, Lookout Command Post, Combat Bridge, Sounding Station, and Upper Lookout—are reproduced with clear parts. Each deck level features sculpted details like grating and linoleum trim. Detailed binocular parts enhance the realism for locations like the observation station and anti-aircraft command post. Multiple ladders connecting the decks are provided as separate parts. Molded parts consist of three colors: gray (Kure Naval Arsenal color), transparent, and black for base parts.
Two types of decals are included.
Paper decals featuring signal flags are included.
A ship name decal for application to the display base after completion is included.
