Fujimi Models - C Series - No. 36 - Prototype Ryusei - Plastic Model Kit
Product Introduction
The Ryusei has been renewed with new decal specifications.
This kit reproduces the Imperial Japanese Navy's “Ryusei” fighter in 1/72 scale.
You can choose to assemble either the “Incremental Prototype (Prototype Ryusei)” or the “Ryusei Kai”.
The Ryusei underwent approximately three and a half years of arduous basic research before being formally adopted.
Its official military designation was “Ryusei Kai” . The aircraft's most distinctive feature is its inverted gull-wing configuration, unusual for Japanese aircraft. Despite numerous issues like weight excess and structural weakness, its performance rivaled top American and British aircraft of the era, particularly surpassing them in structural strength. However, production efficiency declined after mass production began due to the Tokai earthquake and intensifying air raids. Only a small number of aircraft were assigned to units, where they saw action until the war's end.
Armament consists of two fixed 20mm cannons and one rear-mounted 7.7mm swivel gun.
Powered by the Nakajima “Homare” Model 11 engine, it was the final carrier-based bomber developed for the Imperial Japanese Navy.
The instruction manual has been completely revised, allowing assembly as either the standard Ryusei or the Ryusei Kai variant.
Painting instructions are clearly marked for both the prototype Ryusei and the Ryusei Kai.
The molded parts are light gray for easy painting, with the canopy molded clear.
The fuselage is split left and right, and the main wings are split upper and lower.
The package illustration is a new piece drawn by Mikiya Yoshiwara. ~New decals included~
Decals reproduce national markings, serial numbers, aircraft markings, wing identification bands, and landing gear cover serial numbers.
