PIT-ROAD 1/700 Skywave Series Imperial Japanese Navy Battleship Musashi Leyte Gulf Battle Plastic Model W282
Musashi, the final battleship built for Japan, was commissioned in August 1942 as the second ship of the Yamato class.
In February of the following year, she replaced Yamato as the Combined Fleet flagship.
In April n1944, her anti-aircraft armament was significantly enhanced, and she participated in the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June.
During Operation Sho-1 in the following October, her deck was painted black to delay detection by enemy aircraft.
Furthermore, Musashi alone had her hull repainted in a bright gray.
In the same operation (Battle of Leyte Gulf), Musashi endured fierce attacks by U.S. Navy carrier aircraft across five separate waves, withstanding 17 bomb hits and 20 torpedo hits before sinking in the Sibuyan Sea on the 24th of the same month.
