The Type 97 Motorcycle with Sidecar was a vehicle based on the Rikuo, modified to improve off-road performance for military use. It was completed as the world's first two-wheel-drive motorcycle with a sidecar, in which the sidecar wheel is also driven.
Officially adopted in 1937, it was used for various missions such as reconnaissance and liaison.
