Amusing Hobby - British Army - Centurion - Plastic Model - AMH35A035
Product Introduction
Amusing Hobby “1/35 British Army Centurion Mk.5 AVRE” Plastic Model Kit.
The Centurion Mk.5 AVRE is a Combat Engineer Reconnaissance Vehicle (AVRE) variant operated by the Royal Engineers of the British Army.
It features a hydraulic dozer blade mounted on the front of the Centurion Mk.5 hull, carries the L9A1 165mm breaching gun for obstacle clearance, and has an enlarged turret basket.
Deployment began in 1963, gradually replacing the Churchill AVRE. However, due to the stalled development of its successor, the Chieftain AVRE, it remained in service for an extended period. It was even deployed operationally during the 1991 Gulf War, fitted with additional armor. The distinctive short-barreled main gun it carries is the Royal Ordnance L9, developed by Royal Ordnance after World War II.
This gun is a high-explosive squash head (HESH) weapon designed to destroy defensive positions, used to demolish walls, bunkers, and other obstacles hindering operations.
It can fire two HESH shells, each weighing 29 kg with 18 kg of high-performance explosive, up to 400 meters. The L9A1 mounted on this Centurion Mk.5 AVRE is an improved version of the L9, featuring an evacuator (smoke extractor) fitted to the barrel. *This product is a plastic model kit requiring assembly and painting. *Additional items such as adhesive, tools, and paint are required for assembly and painting. *“Plastic Model” is a registered trademark owned by the Japan Plastic Model Manufacturers Association.
