FineMold 1/350 Warship Series Imperial Japanese Navy Destroyer Akebono Plastic Model FW4
Akebono was the 18th ship of the Special Type Destroyer (Fubuki-class) that shook the world (the 8th ship of the Special Type II).
Commissioned in 1931 (Showa 6), she saw action in the First Shanghai Incident, participated in the Hangzhou Bay Landing Operation during the Second Sino-Japanese War, and fought in numerous battles during the Pacific War, including the Battle of Surabaya Strait, the Battle of the Coral Sea, and the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
This model depicts Akebono as she appeared in 1944 (Showa 19), having survived these battles and been heavily retrofitted with additional anti-aircraft machine guns.
It also faithfully recreates Akebono's distinctive bowl-shaped intake/machine gun platform at the base of her second funnel using a new mold.
