TAMIYA Military Miniature Series No. 388-35388 Following its defeat in World War I, Germany was prohibited from developing tanks. The Panzer I was the first practical tank mass-produced by Germany. Production began in 1934 with the Model A, followed by the improved Model B in 1936. The engine was upgraded from 57 horsepower in the A model to 100 horsepower, and the welded hull was extended by approximately 40 cm. \
Armament consisted of two MG13 machine guns.\
Although originally developed for training purposes, the Panzer I saw combat deployment starting with the Spanish Civil War in 1936, followed by the invasion of Poland in September 1939, the French campaign in 1940, the Balkan campaign in 1941, and the early stages of the Russian campaign. \
