Description
Hasegawa - Japan Air Self-Defense Force - Blue Impulse - 2002 - Plastic Model

Product Description
1/72 scale plastic model.
The origins of the current Blue Impulse team trace back to October 19, 1958, when three F-86F aircraft performed aerobatics at an air show held at Hamamatsu North Air Base.
On April 16, 1960, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force established the Aerial Maneuver Research Team within the 1st Air Wing at Hamamatsu Air Base. This team, known as the Tenryu, performed aerobatics using F-86F Sabres.
This F-86F team later changed its name to Blue Impulse, using the call sign Impulse Blue. They gained worldwide fame by drawing the Olympic rings and the EXPO '70 logo in the sky.
After performing numerous aerobatic displays across Japan, the team transitioned from the aging F-86Fs to the domestically produced T-2 jet trainer starting in the 1982 season.
The T-2's speedy aerobatics captivated many fans.
The Blue Impulse team, having flown both the F-86F and T-2, switched to the latest, purely domestically produced jet trainer, the T-4, starting in the 1996 season, where it remains today.
Capable of aerial maneuvers comparable to the F-15, the T-4 showcases more advanced and crisp performances for us spectators.
