Product Description
Akashi was a ship long desired by the Imperial Japanese Navy. As the only newly built ship specifically designed as a repair ship, she was completed in 1939.
To accommodate various onboard workshops, her hull design adopted a horizontal deck configuration.
The forward funnel served exclusively for the ship's internal factories. Five large derrick cranes were installed for damaged parts, repair/replacement components, and supplies.
