1/72 scale plastic model.
The Lockheed F-104 was developed as a supersonic air superiority fighter.
With its compact, lightweight airframe and high-thrust engines capable of Mach 2, the F-104 was considered the last manned fighter of its era.
However, subsequent changes in US Air Force policy meant the F-104, too small to carry data links and other systems, saw only limited deployment.
Nevertheless, recognizing the F-104's high performance, the West German Air Force adopted the G model, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force adopted the J model, the Italian Air Force adopted the S model, NATO nations also introduced the F-104, and the Canadian Air Force adopted it as the CF-104.
Additionally, a two-seat trainer variant of the F-104 exists.
