Description
Hasegawa - Japan Air Self-Defense Force - F-15J Eagle - Plastic Model Kit

Product Introduction
The F-15J Eagle is the main interceptor fighter of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
The Japan Air Self-Defense Force is the world's third nation to operate the Eagle, following the United States Air Force and Israel.
Having previously used the F-104J as its interceptor fighter, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force investigated the F-X as a successor to the F-104J.
From numerous candidate aircraft, the F-15 was selected on December 9, 1976 (Showa 51), with the first aircraft arriving at Gifu Air Base on March 27, 1981 (Showa 56).
Initially, the JASDF's F-15Js were essentially equivalent to the US Air Force's F-15C Block 26, with some modifications unique to the JASDF.
The main modifications included the addition of the JASDF's unique Automatic Warning Control System (Badge System) and the High-Speed Data Device (J/ASW-10 Data Link System) for receiving intercept control from E-2C early warning aircraft, along with changing the antenna at the tip of the vertical stabilizer to a mass balance.
The JASDF initially deployed the F-15J to Nittawara Air Base for pilot training before beginning full-scale deployment to combat air wings.
Currently, the F-15J is deployed across seven squadrons: Squadron 201 (Chitose Air Base), Squadron 202 (Shin-Tatsuhara Air Base), Squadron 203 (Chitose Air Base), Squadron 204 (Hyakuri Air Base), Squadron 303 (Komatsu Air Base), Squadron 304 (Tsuchiura Air Base), and Squadron 305 (Hyakuri Air Base).
Similar to the U.S. Air Force, the F-15J undergoes a Multi-Stage Improvement Program (MSIP), with equipment being upgraded and additional gear added annually.
Consequently, changes are visible externally, such as newly added antennas.
Additionally, modifications are underway to enable some aircraft to carry the domestically produced AAM-3 air-to-air missile.
As the mainstay fighter of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, the F-15J will continue to play a vital role in Japan's air defense alongside the future FS-X fighter.
