We've launched the highly requested “Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force” in our 1/3000 scale series.\ The 2nd Escort Group features the Aegis destroyer “Atago-class” alongside the multi-purpose destroyers “Takanami-class” and “Asagiri-class,” all produced with completely new molds.
They are deployed across four bases: Yokosuka, Sasebo, Maizuru, and Kure. Each group consists of two squadrons, each with four destroyers.
The 2nd Escort Group, headquartered in Sasebo, saw the long-deployed DDH-144 Kurama replaced by DDH-182 Ise in March 2017.
Additionally, the squadron included two classes of destroyers (DDG) and four classes of destroyers (DD), marking a period where “ships spanning generations, from the Asagiri-class to the Akizuki-class, could be seen together.”
The 2nd Escort Squadron performs continuous surveillance and monitoring of surrounding waters while also carrying out diverse missions, including counter-piracy operations and international deployments.
□ This product features eight ships belonging to the 2nd Escort Group, reflecting the 2017 fleet composition. □ The escort ships are completely newly designed, capturing their distinctive shapes. □ The molded colors utilize a new shade developed specifically for JMSDF vessels, replicating the “Dark Gray N4” used on open decks. □Included decals feature markings for above-water sections, such as hull numbers and new arrival indicators. A series for easily collecting and displaying “Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force vessels” protecting Japan's land and territorial waters surrounded by sea. The molded color replicates the gray of JMSDF vessels, with a design minimizing parts count for easy assembly. The vessels feature a snap-fit design requiring no glue and can be displayed on the included sea surface panel. Sets are configured to match the fleet composition, which changes annually, with ship numbers and markings precisely reproduced via included decals.
