Pit Road - Skywave Series - Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force - DDG-168 - J101
Product Introduction
The “Tachikaze” was commissioned in March 1976 as the lead ship of the JMSDF's second-generation missile destroyer, the Tachikaze-class.
Equipped with the then-state-of-the-art TATRA D integrated missile system, it was capable of carrying Standard Missiles (SM-1MR).
In 1998, modifications were made, including removal of the aft turret and installation of a new command center. Serving as the flagship of the Escort Fleet, the ship remained in service until 2007.
