Pit Road - Skywave Series - Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force - FFM-1 - J100
Product Introduction
The FFM-1 “Mogami” and FFM-2 “Kumano” were approved for construction in the FY2018 budget. Equipped with anti-mine warfare sonar, autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) mine detectors, and unmanned surface vehicles (USV) for mine clearance, these are the latest-generation destroyers specialized for sweeping advanced mines.
Stealth capabilities were also prioritized, with most fittings installed inside the sloped hull sides. Features like the distinctive unicorn-shaped composite antenna and the square-pyramid mast housing multifunction radars on four sides give it a hull profile distinctly different from previous escort vessels.
