Pit Road - Skywave Series - Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force - DDH-142 - J81
The Hiei entered service in 1974 as the second ship of the Haruna-class, the JMSDF's first helicopter-carrying escort vessels (DDH). Alongside the “Haruna” and two improved “Shirane”-class ships, these four vessels served for a long period. Following the commissioning of the full-length flight deck ‘Hyūga’-class ships, the “Hiei” was decommissioned in 2011. This kit reproduces the final configuration as a full-hull model.
New Parts: Full hull hull bottom, various satellite communication antennas.
Includes one SH-60J patrol helicopter.
Selectable ocean/full hull model.
Finished size: Length approx. 218mm.
