Micro Ace “1/72 Scale Warplane Series Imperial Japanese Army Reconnaissance Aircraft Mitsubishi Ki-15-I 97 Type 1 Reconnaissance” plastic model.
Development of the Ki-15 was approved for Mitsubishi on July 23, 1935 (Showa 10). At this stage, it was envisioned for both reconnaissance and liaison duties, with the aircraft designated as a high-speed liaison plane.
Mitsubishi completed the first prototype (1501) in May 1936 (Showa 11).
This prototype achieved excellent results during testing, including a top speed of 480 km/h, significantly exceeding the required 450 km/h. In February 1940, it was decided to use this aircraft as a headquarters reconnaissance plane. Modified versions with changes to the windshield, cockpit, and armament were built. Following testing in May 1940, it was officially adopted as the Type 97 Headquarters Reconnaissance Aircraft.
