Product Introduction
Most commercialized Mutsuki-class destroyers depict their appearance up to the immediate start of the Pacific War.
Yamashita Hobby will recreate the Mutsuki-class destroyers that served as escort destroyers during the war based on historical records.
The first release models the “Fumizuki,” one of the high-speed transport destroyers. It had two of its four main guns removed, along with one torpedo tube, and was equipped with 25mm twin and triple mounts to enhance its anti-aircraft armament.
Due to its enhanced anti-aircraft armament, the Fumizuki was mistaken for a convoy escort destroyer and engaged aircraft from the U.S. carrier task force.
In many scenarios, it was often sunk under the intense attack of U.S. aircraft. However, in this instance, it engaged in anti-aircraft combat alongside two sister ships, achieving the combat results of shooting down 15 aircraft (4 unconfirmed) and successfully repelling the attack.
This engagement indirectly protected a separate convoy, enabling it to complete its transport mission unscathed—a remarkable achievement.
New molds have been added, incorporating new parts such as the deck, gun turrets, anti-aircraft machine gun mounts, and machine gun mount supports.
