Yamashita Hobby 1/700 Warship Model Series Destroyer Mikazuki 1943 Plastic Model
Most commercialized Mutsuki-class destroyers depict their appearance up until shortly after the start of the Pacific War. Following the destroyer “Fumizuki,” we have now produced the destroyer “Mikazuki,” which was converted into a high-speed transport destroyer during the war, based on historical records. It was equipped with twin and triple 25mm anti-aircraft guns to enhance its anti-air capabilities. During its conversion to a high-speed transport destroyer, part of the boiler room in the engine section was also removed. As a result, the aft funnel was reduced to half its size, giving it a distinctive appearance. Furthermore, “Mikazuki” was a late-production Mutsuki-class destroyer equipped with mine-sweeping gear like paravanes on the aft deck, a detail also reproduced in this kit.
To accurately depict these features, new molds were added. New parts include the deck, gun turrets, anti-aircraft machine gun mounts, machine gun mount supports, mine-sweeping gear, the narrowed funnel, and bonus parts like a large motorboat.
