Yamashita Hobby 1/700 Ship Model Series Special Type Destroyer Hibiki 1941 Plastic Model NV2U
The final revised version in the Special Type Destroyer series has arrived.
The destroyer “Hibiki” belongs to the last group built during the construction period of the Special Type Destroyers.
Consequently, adhering to a design philosophy focused on fleet decisive battle doctrine, she boasted a substantial, imposing appearance with a large bridge upon completion. However, due to repeated maritime accidents stemming from top-heaviness, modifications like slimming the upper bridge section were implemented, resulting in a destroyer possessing a unique appearance distinct from conventional Special Type vessels.
As one of four ships of its class, the destroyer Hibiki was deployed to numerous battlefields immediately upon the outbreak of war.
However, in the harsh combat environment, Hibiki suffered major damage multiple times. Each time, she was repaired and returned to the front lines, earning her the nickname “Phoenix.”
